Dengue is a viral infection transmitted primarily by Aedes mosquitoes, particularly Aedes aegypti. Common in tropical and subtropical climates, it poses a significant public health challenge in many regions. Symptoms typically appear 4-10 days after infection and can range from mild fever, headache, and joint pain to severe manifestations, such as dengue hemorrhagic fever and dengue shock syndrome, which can be life-threatening.

Preventive measures focus on mosquito control and personal protection, such as using insect repellent, wearing long sleeves, and eliminating standing water where mosquitoes breed. While there is no specific antiviral treatment for dengue, supportive care, including hydration and pain management, is essential. Vaccines have been developed but are recommended for those with prior dengue infection. Awareness and education are crucial in reducing the incidence and impact of this disease.

The hospital infection control committee, under agies of the Medical Superintendents office along with the Environmental engineering has implemented measures to combat Dengue infection within the hospital premises and the community. These measures focus on raising awareness among patients, visitors, and healthcare workers both in the CMC Town and the Ranipet campuses as well surrounding community through a series of four-day awareness campaigns. These campaigns are scheduled to occur from September 25 to 28 at the CMC town campus and from October 1 to 4 at the Ranipet campus. The initiative will include activities such as informational stalls, educational video presentations, the distribution of posters and handouts, and interactive experiences like puppet shows and engaging activities for patients.

All these initiatives at Christian Medical College not only enhance the health and well-being of our community but also reaffirm our institution's vision and commitment to holistic care and service.

டெங்கு என்பது முதன்மையாக ஏடிஸ் கொசுக்கள், குறிப்பாக ஏடிஸ் ஈஜிப்டி கொசுக்கள் மூலம் பரவுகின்ற  ஒரு வைரஸ் தொற்று. வெப்ப மிதவெப்ப மண்டல காலநிலைகளில் பொதுவானது, இது பல பிராந்தியங்களில் குறிப்பிடத்தக்க பொது சுகாதார சவாலாக உள்ளது. அறிகுறிகள் பொதுவாக நோய்த்தொற்றுக்கு 4-10 நாட்களுக்குப் பிறகு தோன்றும் மற்றும் லேசான காய்ச்சல், தலைவலி மற்றும் மூட்டு வலி முதல் தொடங்கி  டெங்கு ரத்தக்கசிவு காய்ச்சல் மற்றும் டெங்கு அதிர்ச்சி நோய்க்குறி போன்ற கடுமையான வெளிப்பாடுகள் வரை ஏற்படலாம், இது உயிருக்கு ஆபத்தானது.

 கொசுக் கட்டுப்பாடு மற்றும் தனிப்பட்ட பாதுகாப்பில் தடுப்பு நடவடிக்கைகள் கவனம் செலுத்துகின்றன, அதாவது கொசு விரட்டியைப் பயன்படுத்துதல், நீண்ட கை ஆடைகளை அணிதல் மற்றும் கொசுக்கள் இனப்பெருக்கம் செய்யும் இடத்தில் தேங்கி நிற்கும் தண்ணீரை அகற்றுதல். டெங்குவிற்கு குறிப்பிட்ட வைரஸ் தடுப்பு சிகிச்சை எதுவும் இல்லை என்றாலும், நீரேற்றம் மற்றும் வலி மேலாண்மை உள்ளிட்ட ஆதரவு பராமரிப்பு அவசியம். தடுப்பூசிகள் உருவாக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன, ஆனால் டெங்கு நோய்த்தொற்று பாதிப்பு  முன்பிருந்தவர்களுக்கே  பரிந்துரைக்கப்படுகிறது. இந்த நோயின் தாக்கத்தையும்  குறைப்பதில் விழிப்புணர்வும் கற்பித்தலும் மிக முக்கியம்.

மருத்துவமனை தொற்றுக் கட்டுப்பாட்டுக் குழு, மருத்துவ கண்காணிப்பாளர் அலுவலகத்தின் கீழ், சுற்றுச்சூழல் பொறியியலுடன் இணைந்து மருத்துவமனை வளாகத்திலும் சமுதாயத்திலும் டெங்கு தொற்றை எதிர்த்துப் போராடுவதற்கான நடவடிக்கைகளை நடைமுறைப்படுத்தியுள்ளது. இந்த நடவடிக்கைகள் சிஎம்சி வேலூர் நகர மற்றும் ராணிப்பேட்டை வளாகங்கள் மற்றும் சுற்றியுள்ள பகுதிகளில்  உள்ள நோயாளிகள், பார்வையாளர்கள் மற்றும் சுகாதாரப் பணியாளர்களிடையே விழிப்புணர்வை ஏற்படுத்துவதில் கவனம் செலுத்துகின்றன. இந்த பிரச்சாரங்கள் செப்டம்பர் 25 முதல் 28 வரை சிஎம்சி நகர வளாகத்திலும், அக்டோபர் 1 முதல் 4 வரை ராணிப்பேட்டை வளாகத்திலும் நடைபெற உள்ளன. இந்த முயற்சியில் தகவல் ஸ்டால்கள், கல்வி வீடியோ விளக்கக்காட்சிகள், சுவரொட்டிகள் மற்றும் கையேடுகளை விநியோகித்தல் மற்றும் நோயாளிகளுக்கான பொம்மலாட்ட நிகழ்ச்சிகள் மற்றும் ஈடுபாட்டுடன் கூடிய செயல்பாடுகள்  அடங்கும்.
